Rialto Beach heading north

Trip report by:

"I would definitely recommend this trip to a friend."

I've never stayed overnight on a beach while backpacking before. My friend and I hiked about 5.5 miles north of Rialto Beach to a beautiful campsite with fire-ring. Plenty of driftwood for our needs of a small fire while watching the sunset.

The next day we hiked another 5 or so miles for the day. Along with perfect weather, we saw eagles, young and old, some form of pelicans, cougar tracks, heron, dead seals on the beach, lots of different types of seagulls, a doe and fawn one day, and a buck 30 ft from us the next.

I would have liked to do a loop and hike all the way to Lake Ozette, but this was a great trip, I really recommend.

A personal note; please remember to spend a little money in the small Olympic towns, so they don't rely on timber dollars so much.

Note :   This is backcountry wilderness travel. Any trail can become very dangerous in winter conditions. You are responsible for informing yourself of the hazards and taking the necessary precautions.
