LOVERS LANE Length 2.8 mi/4.5 km Access Soleduck River Road USGS Map Bogachiel Peak Agency Olympic National Park Mow this trail received its name can be inferred—the level path is suitable for casual strolling, particularly in the moonlight on a warm evening. The trail parallels the Soleduck River from the Sol Duc Hot Springs to the Canyon Creek Trail near Soleduck Tails. The trail begins near the swimming pool at the hot springs (1679 ft/512 m) and for about a half mile goes through second-growth forest, where logging occurred years ago, then enters stands of virgin Douglas fir. Here it crosses three streams spanned by logs provided with handrails. The first stream is Mink Lake Creek, beyond which the path winds among big firs and through luxuriant glades to Hidden Lake Creek. This stream is often dry, particularly in late summer and fall. The third stream, Canyon Creek, is the largest of the trio. The forest now becomes mostly western hemlock; bin Douglas fir is still present. Near the trail's end the hiker has not only beautiful views of the river but also of a waterfall where a tributary stream plunges over a cliff. The trail intersects the Canyon Creek Trail near Soleduck Falls (2.8 mi/4.5 km; 1930 ft/588 m).
