Lover's Lane Trail

This trail links Sol Duck Hot Springs with Sol Duc Falls, offering an easy loop of 
6 miles through the pristine old growth and the auto campgrounds.  The forest here 
mixes the elements of the rainforests to the west with plants of the rain shadow 
country to the east.  Early in the trek, ranks of moss draped vine maple arch over 
the path, while nurse logs and old stumps provide aerial platforms for mosses and 
seedlings.  Near the falls, Douglas fir dominates the more open woodland, and bracken, 
lady, and sword ferns populate broad glades between the trees.  After 2.9 miles, 
the trail reaches spectacular Sol Duc falls; from this point, the route turns 
downstream to the Sol Duc trailhead, and then follows signs to the campground as it 
follows the east bank of the river to return to the lodge.
