HIGHWAY 101-OLYMPIC PENINSULA-MILEPOST BY MILEPOST
Highway 101 is 367 miles long (while in Washington State) - that is a tinge over 1 mile per day for 1 year...
Even I must admit some miles don't deserve an entire day's notice - but some deserve years of admiration. I
have and will continue to discover and log anything of interest on each milepost. Highway 101 begins in
and heads west, sharing the road with Highway 8 for 1 short mile, until it meanders off towards Shelton and
the east side of the Olympic National Park. It then follows the majestic Pacific Ocean around the Olympic
it turns south - heading for the Oregon border
and points south. Regardless how you get to Highway 101....
When you are on Highway 101 note the next milepost. From
( Milepost 367 ) the milepost number gets lower until it reaches the Oregon border ( Milepost 0 ). For

All Olympic National Park trailheads are reached via Highway 101. Therefore, I have listed 3 routes to get
you to Highway 101 - with a starting point of
to go directly to directions
to/from SEATAC. The easiest way to find directions to TRAILHEADS is to go to my
TRAIL REVIEWS SECTION
and choose the trail you are interested in. When you arrive on your trail's review page - click on
'DIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD' option and like magic you will be taken to the proper milepost closest to your
trailhead. If I say Sol Duc is at Milepost 219 - understand - it is somewhere
within that mile....I am not going to say Milepost 219.4. This page is a work in progress. Milepost XXX
means I haven't been there since creating this page and will refine the appropriate entry when next there.
