MILEPOST 129...... NORTH FORK QUINAULT (QUIN..NALT) TRAILHEAD
Don't take
camper or RV on this road..trees show scrape marks for those who tried.
AMANDA PARK
is at the edge of Lake Quinault
and is the location of the Northern Loop Road.
LAKE QUINAULT
has a road looping around it. The southern loop ends at the Graves Creek trailhead - about 15 miles.. (I will
refine distance next time I drive it.) The northern loop road goes 5-6 miles then turns into gravel. The gravel
is not bad but the road gets extremely narrow. Early morning (5-6 am) and you will have to wait for the elk to
move on. You will repeatedly think you are on the wrong road but keep going... after 15 miles (from Highway 101)
you will see the connection to the southern loop and a sign indicating ranger station and campground 3 more
miles. The ranger station is the main trailhead - another is before the campground. THE CAMPGROUND IS ALWAYS
FULL - only about 10 spots. Parking area at ranger station. If the road is out can take the southern loop and
cross over to trailhead. Northern loop road is worse for driving but more scenic. I will put more details in
next time I drive the road.

MILEPOST 126...... GRAVES CREEK TRAILHEAD
AMANDA PARK

LAKE QUINAULT (QUIN..NALT)
and 3 miles north of the Southern Loop Road.
LAKE QUINAULT
has a road looping around it. The southern loop ends at the Graves Creek trailhead.....
about 15
miles.. (I will refine distance next time I drive it.) The road goes by the historic
LAKE QUINAULT LODGE
and meanders through farms etc. following the river. The road turns into a yucky gravel road = but passable.
There is nothing at trailhead but a sign announcing trailhead. No ranger station no parking area.. but
Graves Creek Campground is 500 feet from trailhead. If the road is out can take the northern loop and
cross over to trailhead. Northern loop road is worse for driving but more scenic. The northern loop has a
ranger station at the end of it - The North Fork Quinault trailhead. I will put more details in next time I
drive the road.
